Best AI receptionist for dental clinics in 2026 (an honest comparison)

A practical comparison of the AI receptionists dental clinics are shortlisting in 2026 — pricing, channels, PMS handling and Canadian fit. Includes our own product, clearly labelled.

The dental AI receptionist market changed quickly in 2026. There are now dental-only vendors, all-in-one communications platforms, voice-first tools and general AI receptionists with a dental landing page. They are not interchangeable, and the pricing models are not comparable.

This guide is written by ClinicBot, so read it with that bias in mind. We have labelled our own product clearly, included competitors that are stronger than us in specific areas, and linked the public information we used. Prices and features change; confirm them with each vendor before you buy.

How we compared them

We looked at six things a dental clinic actually has to live with after the demo: the channels a patient can use, whether the price is public, how the product handles the practice-management system, which languages it supports, how long setup takes, and whether it is built for a Canadian clinic.

We did not rank by review count or analyst reports. A large review footprint can reflect a long sales history rather than a better fit for a five-chair practice. We also did not treat a custom quote as a feature; it is a buying friction.

  • Channels: WhatsApp, website chat, SMS, phone or a mix.
  • Pricing: public monthly plan versus quote-only.
  • PMS: write-back, read-only, or no integration.
  • Languages: English, French, Urdu, Arabic, Spanish or more.
  • Setup: website import, guided onboarding or a PMS migration.
  • Canadian fit: privacy language, billing and local support.

The shortlist at a glance

These are the vendors a dental clinic is most likely to see in a 2026 shortlist. The list is not exhaustive, and it is not a ranking.

  • ClinicBot — WhatsApp + website chat, public pricing, no PMS write-back.
  • Arini — dental-specific AI receptionist, quote-only, US-focused.
  • Viva AI — dental-specific, around $350/month, strong content and DSO material.
  • Rondah AI — comparison-heavy, quote-only, DSO case studies.
  • DentalAssist AI — Canadian, CAD $299–$499/month, PHIPA-oriented.
  • Weave — all-in-one phone, texting, payments and communications, quote-only.
  • OhMD — HIPAA texting and patient engagement, around $300–$500/month.
  • Trillet AI — voice-first AI receptionist, plan plus per-minute pricing.
  • Goodcall — AI phone answering, from around $79/month.

1. ClinicBot (our product)

ClinicBot is an AI receptionist for WhatsApp and website chat. It imports the clinic's public website to draft the assistant, then answers routine questions, captures booking requests and hands complex conversations to the team. It does not answer phone calls and does not write into a PMS.

The public plans are $49/month for the website widget and $99/month for WhatsApp plus the widget, with AI credits included. That is the lowest published entry price on this list, but it is also a narrower product: if you need phone coverage or PMS write-back, ClinicBot is not the right fit.

  • Best for: independent clinics that want WhatsApp and web chat at a published price.
  • Not for: phone-first clinics, DSOs that need centralized reporting, or practices that require PMS write-back.

2. Arini

Arini is one of the clearest dental-only AI receptionists. Its content library and case studies are stronger than ClinicBot's, and it is built around the dental buyer rather than a generic clinic.

The trade-off is a quote-only sale and a US-centric public presence. If you want a dental specialist with a mature sales process and you are comfortable with a custom quote, Arini belongs on the shortlist.

  • Best for: US dental practices that want a dental-only vendor.
  • Ask about: channels, PMS scope, Canadian data handling and contract length.

3. Viva AI

Viva AI has a strong buyer's guide, technical content and DSO-oriented material. Its public plan is around $350/month, which is a different budget from a messaging-first tool.

Viva is a reasonable fit for a practice that wants a dental-specific AI vendor and a content-led evaluation. Ask for a live conversation in the channel you actually use, not just a recorded demo.

  • Best for: dental practices and groups that want a dental-specific AI vendor.
  • Ask about: WhatsApp support, Canadian billing and what the $350 plan includes.

4. Rondah AI

Rondah has built one of the largest comparison libraries in dental AI and publishes DSO case studies. That makes it useful even if you do not buy it: the comparison pages are a shortcut to the questions you should ask every vendor.

Rondah does not publish pricing. If you are comparing it with ClinicBot, ask for a written quote for the same message volume and channels, then compare the total cost rather than the headline.

  • Best for: dental practices and DSOs that want a comparison-heavy, sales-led evaluation.
  • Ask about: public pricing, WhatsApp, Canadian coverage and implementation time.

5. DentalAssist AI

DentalAssist is a Canadian dental AI receptionist with PHIPA-oriented messaging and city pages. Its public plans are around CAD $299–$499/month.

If Canadian data residency and a Canadian vendor are your first filters, DentalAssist is a natural shortlist. If you want a lower entry price and WhatsApp-first conversations, ClinicBot is the closer fit. Check what each plan includes before comparing the headline.

  • Best for: Canadian dental clinics that prioritize a Canadian vendor and PHIPA messaging.
  • Ask about: channels, languages, PMS handling and what is included at each CAD tier.

6. Weave

Weave is an all-in-one dental communications platform: phone, texting, reminders, payments and more. Its review footprint is much larger than ClinicBot's, and it is a mature choice for a practice that wants one vendor for the front office.

The AI receptionist is one module in a larger suite, and the price is quote-only. If you already have a phone system and only need WhatsApp and web chat, you may be buying more than you need.

  • Best for: practices that want one vendor for phone, texting, payments and reminders.
  • Ask about: the AI module price, contract length, hardware and WhatsApp support.

7. OhMD

OhMD is a HIPAA-focused patient texting and engagement platform with strong long-form content and comparison pages. It is a medical-first product, with dentistry as a secondary market.

If you are a US clinic that needs HIPAA texting and a broad engagement suite, OhMD is a serious option. If you are a Canadian dental clinic that wants WhatsApp and web chat, the fit is weaker.

  • Best for: US clinics that want HIPAA texting and patient engagement.
  • Ask about: dental workflows, WhatsApp, Canadian privacy and the all-in price.

8. Trillet AI

Trillet is a voice-first AI receptionist with transparent plan and per-minute pricing and Ontario procurement content. If your patients still call, a voice-first tool is a better fit than a messaging-only assistant.

ClinicBot does not answer phone calls, so this is not a like-for-like comparison. Model your expected call volume and per-minute cost before you compare it with a flat monthly plan.

  • Best for: clinics that want a voice-first AI receptionist.
  • Ask about: per-minute overage, PMS handling, WhatsApp and Canadian data handling.

9. Goodcall

Goodcall is an AI phone answering service with predictable pricing and a detailed dental page. It is a good fit for a clinic whose main gap is missed phone calls.

It is not a WhatsApp or website-chat product, and the Canadian and multilingual positioning is thinner than ClinicBot's. Compare it on the channel that actually produces your missed enquiries.

  • Best for: clinics that want AI phone answering at a simple monthly price.
  • Ask about: dental call flows, PMS handling, Canadian numbers and multilingual support.

What to ask before you buy

A demo shows the happy path. These questions show whether the product survives a normal Tuesday.

  • Which channels are included, and which cost extra?
  • Is the price public, or is it a quote? What is the contract length?
  • Does it write into our PMS, read from it, or neither?
  • What happens when the assistant does not know the answer?
  • Can we review and edit the imported services, doctors and hours?
  • Which languages are supported, and who checks the translations?
  • What is the per-conversation or per-credit cost at our volume?
  • Can we export the conversation history if we leave?
  • Where is the data stored, and what is the privacy model?
  • Can we run a two-week pilot with a human confirmation step?

The Canadian checklist

Canadian clinics have a different compliance and language context from US clinics. Ontario uses PHIPA, Alberta uses the Health Information Act, British Columbia uses PIPA, and Quebec has Law 25 alongside federal PIPEDA in some contexts. A vendor that only says 'HIPAA compliant' has not answered the Canadian question.

Ask for the current security documentation, the data location, the retention policy and a vendor agreement your privacy advisor can review. Also check whether the product can reply in French and in the languages your patients actually use.

  • Privacy: PHIPA, HIA, PIPA or Law 25 depending on the province.
  • Languages: at least English and French; Urdu, Arabic and others if your patient base needs them.
  • Billing: CAD pricing and tax handling, not just a USD list price.
  • PMS: ABELDent, Dentrix, Open Dental, Curve, CareStack or Tab32.
  • Support: a real person in a Canadian time zone.

Our honest recommendation

Choose by channel first. If your missed enquiries are phone calls, start with a voice-first vendor such as Trillet or Goodcall. If you want one vendor for phone, texting, payments and reminders, look at Weave. If you need PMS-connected booking, look at NexHealth or Curogram. If you want a dental-only AI specialist with a large content library, look at Arini, Viva or Rondah.

If your gap is WhatsApp and website chat, and you want a published price, a website-import setup and multilingual replies without a PMS migration, ClinicBot is built for that. It is narrower than the suites, and that is deliberate.

  • Phone-first: Trillet, Goodcall or a traditional answering service.
  • All-in-one communications: Weave.
  • PMS-connected booking: NexHealth or Curogram.
  • Dental-only AI with content depth: Arini, Viva or Rondah.
  • WhatsApp + web chat at a public price: ClinicBot.
